Prague to Welcome the Global Dental Community for the FDI World Dental Congress 2026
With participants from over 90 countries already registered, Prague is set to become the global meeting point for dentistry from 4–7 September 2026 — where the future of the profession becomes visible.
From 4–7 September 2026, Prague became a global meeting point for dentistry as it hosted the FDI World Dental Congress (WDC) 2026. Co-hosted by the FDI World Dental Federation and the Czech Dental Chamber, the congress brought practitioners, researchers, and industry together from over 90 countries — underlining its role as an important platform where global perspectives converge at a time of rapid change in dentistry and oral healthcare.
The congress was held under the patronage of the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, alongside senior representatives of the Czech government and public institutions, including the Ministry of Health, the Mayor of Prague, and the Rector of Charles University — reflecting the increasing recognition of oral health as an integral part of public health, prevention, and healthy ageing strategies.
The choice of Prague as host city reflected the rapid transformation of dentistry in the Czech Republic. Over the past decade, reforms have strengthened the workforce, making dentistry the youngest medical profession in the country. The country has also become a technological leader, with AI, 3D printing, and robotics widely used in both cities and smaller regions.
"Dentistry is changing more rapidly than at any time in the last hundred years. AI, robotics, fewer cavities, new business models, and global corporate structures are transforming the profession. Those who understand the change early will lead dentistry. Those who ignore it may soon find themselves left behind. Prague 2026 will be the place where the future of dentistry becomes visible," said Dr Roman Šmucler, President of the Czech Dental Chamber.
Beyond the scientific programme, WDC 2026 offered delegates an exceptional cultural and social experience, including the Gala Dinner in the historic Spanish Hall at Prague Castle and Prague Night at the iconic Municipal House — creating space for meaningful interaction among participants from different regions and supporting conversations that often lead to new collaborations and lasting professional connections.
