New One-Year Clinical Data Demonstrates Predictable Performance of the PrimeTaper EV Implant System

A multicenter post-market clinical study across five international centres demonstrated 98.5% implant survival, progressive increases in implant stability, and minimal marginal bone level changes — reinforcing Dentsply Sirona's evidence-based approach to implant design.

Dentsply Sirona has announced the results of a new multicenter, prospective, post-market clinical study evaluating the one-year performance of the PrimeTaper EV implant system. Conducted across five centres in Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy, the United States, and Germany, the open-label, single-arm study followed 136 patients from implant placement through permanent restoration and one year of follow-up after permanent restoration.

The study assessed implant survival, stability (measured by insertion torque and resonance frequency analysis), marginal bone level changes, and safety. One year after permanent restoration, implant survival was 98.5% (134 of 136 implants), with an implant success rate of 95.6%. Machine-driven insertions, representing 94.9% of cases, achieved a mean final insertion torque of 31.2 ± 12.7 Ncm.

Implant stability, measured by ISQ (Implant Stability Quotient), increased from 71.8 ± 11.2 at placement to 79.3 ± 6.9 at permanent restoration — demonstrating progressive osseointegration over the treatment period. Mean marginal bone level changes were minimal, at -0.16 ± 0.51 mm from placement to one year post-restoration. No serious adverse device effects were reported during the study period.

"For four decades, Dentsply Sirona has invested in clinical research to ensure that innovation is supported by scientific evidence. These encouraging one-year results demonstrate that the PrimeTaper EV Implant System supports clinicians in delivering predictable performance with excellent survival rates, progressive stability, and minimal marginal bone changes. They further reinforce our commitment to developing solutions that help clinicians achieve predictable treatment outcomes for their patients," said Rainer Seemann, Vice President and Chief Clinical Officer at Dentsply Sirona.

The study's findings further strengthen Dentsply Sirona's long-standing commitment to evidence-based dentistry and continuous scientific research. Since launching its Company Initiated Study program in 1985, Dentsply Sirona has conducted 64 clinical studies, contributing to a scientific foundation that spans four decades of research and includes outcomes from the first generation of Dentsply Sirona implants, first published in 1992.

Beyond its own research programme, Dentsply Sirona supports independent research through its Investigator Initiated Studies (IIS) Programme, which helps fund and facilitate clinical, case series, in vitro, and mechanical studies led by clinicians and universities worldwide. Between 2003 and 2025, the programme received 1,146 study proposals from investigators in 45 countries. Today, the IIS programme supports more than 170 active studies involving over 140 investigators across more than 25 countries.

Together, these programmes contribute to Dentsply Sirona's broader scientific footprint, which includes more than 3,000 peer-reviewed publications involving products across its implant and prosthetic portfolio, as well as data from over 40,000 documented patients and 125,000 documented implants. The full Dentsply Sirona Implants Publication List is available at the company's website. The study was published in the International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Implants (April 2026) and was fully sponsored by Dentsply Sirona.
